Had a visit to the chemistry department with a family member on interview day. Whole campus is very extensive in the centre of Manchester. Really enjoyed the day, staff & students very knowledgable on the way forward to further education. They also gave a fun demonstration on the practical aspects of chemistry. The wiz bang show was great.

For me, I don't think I could have seen myself at any other university. Being from neighbouring Cheshire and hearing the raving reviews of friends who passed through the degree ranks here, I was definitely going to follow.Now boasting being the largest university in the UK with about 40000 undergraduate students and 10000 staff all hosted in the two campuses which used to form the UMIST and the Victoria campuses of yesteryear. I loved my time at the University of Manchester. It is very well located for the fantastic and vibrant city centre of Manchester. The largest university in the country, it has around 30000 students, which creates a really lively and welcoming atmosphere around campus. The university offers a vast range of subjects, and has a fantastic library. Transport is great, it is situated on the Oxford Road, which is the busiest bus route in Europe, and there is literally a bus coming along every couple of (more...)joolsvw

The Univeristy of Manchester is well placed for access to all that this vibrant and cosmopolitan city has to offer. The university itself is good looking and has a great library. The campus halls are not great, basic at leats in my day (2002).
I found that the lecturers could be a little inaccessible and the highly academic scene was not for me. However, they do offer some of the best courses in the country, and it is no doubt a prestigeous place.

I'm a current student at Manchester Uni and would recommend it to anyone who is trying to decide weather or not to attend.
The facilities and teaching staff are brilliant, as are the links to the city centre (buses galore on Oxford Road!).
